Korea, 1920: Das Land ist von der brutalen Kolonialmacht Japan besetzt. Lee Jang-ha, ein junger Truppenführer der koreanischen Unabhängigkeitsarmee, soll in einem Himmelfahrtskommando ein japanisches Elite-Bataillon in eine tödliche Falle locken. Während der Mission trifft er auf seinen ehemaligen Mentor Hwang Hae-chul. Der Hauptmann einer kampferprobten Widerstandsgruppe beschließt, Lee zu helfen: Gemeinsam gelingt es ihnen, die feindlichen Einheiten zu ködern und an der Nase herumzuführen. So gut der Plan auch zu sein scheint, ist beiden klar, dass nicht alle die anstehende Schlacht in den unwegsamen Bergen überleben werden.
